Secure Folder

Let's suppose that your computer is shared with other people and you have a lot of personal and private information stored on the hard disk. You wouldn't want others to have access to your private information. At the same time, you may have contents stored on your computer which are not suitable for children and that's why you should hide and lock that information. Unfortunately, Windows can't help you here, as it doesn't have any tools for protecting folders and files. Fortunately, there are several 3rd party applications which can do this. One of them is Secure Folder.

This simple Windows application allows you to lock or hide folders and even encrypt the files contained by them, making the information unavailable unless the right password is provided. The software is very simple to install and features a very intuitive interface. For protecting folders, the user just needs to point out the desired ones and select one of the three available options, which are lock, hide and encrypt. Protected folders and files won't be available without entering the right password. Not even booting from safe mode or DOS won't make the information available.

Secure Folder allows adding and protecting an unlimited number of folders and files. When running it for the first time, it will ask the user to enter a password and a recovery email address. This email address will be used in case the user forgets the password.

Besides protecting and hiding information, Secure Folder also includes some extra tools. These tools allow hiding certain partitions from the system, blocking specific applications, fixing certain system errors, cleaning the history and temporary information generated by Windows and web browsers, managing startup items and even capturing the desktop.

Locked or encrypted folders can be unlocked only using the program. There is no way to do this without having Secure Folder installed. For making it easier to unlock files and folders, each one of them will be displayed in the program's interface, together with a specific color, according to the type of protection applied.
